Readers’ Club Visit to Mathrubhumi Press & Book Fair, Palakkad

The Readers’ Club of PM SHRI KV Kanjikode organised an educational visit under PM SHRI to the Mathrubhumi Press and Book Fair at Palakkad on 16 February 2026. A total of 27 students, accompanied by Mr. Mujib Rahiman, Librarian and Mrs. Shivani Mishra, Art Teacher, participated in this enriching experience.

The students were warmly welcomed at the Mathrubhumi Press office. They were given a valuable opportunity to tour the press and observe closely the functioning of a modern newspaper printing unit. The visit provided them with first-hand knowledge about the various stages involved in newspaper production — from editing and layout design to printing and distribution. The students were particularly fascinated to see the large printing machines and understand how thousands of copies are produced within a short span of time.

Following the press visit, the students proceeded to the Mathrubhumi Book Fair. The book fair featured an impressive and diverse collection of books across genres including fiction, non-fiction, children’s literature, and reference materials. The students enthusiastically explored the stalls and purchased books of their interest.

The visit not only enhanced students’ understanding of media and publishing but also encouraged reading habits and independent book selection. It was a highly informative and inspiring programme for all participants.
