Teachers’ Day Special: An Interview with Mrs. Rugmini Menon, A Fulbright Scholar and Inspiring KVS Teacher

This Teachers’ Day, the Readers’ and Quiz Club had the privilege of interviewing our beloved teacher, Mrs. Rugmini Menon, TGT English, who is set to retire after an extraordinary career of more than 37 years in Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS).

A distinguished Fulbright Scholar and the recipient of many awards, Mrs. Rugmini Menon has been more than just a teacher of English. She has been a true mentor—someone who instilled a deep appreciation for language, encouraged creativity, and nurtured curiosity in her students. Her support and guidance have extended well beyond the classroom, touching the lives of both students and colleagues with equal grace.

In this special interview, she shares insights from her teaching journey, her experiences as an educator, and her reflections on a career that has inspired generations to Mast. Aman, Miss. Devananda and Mast. Navneeth.

Mrs. Rugmini Menon is a recipient of Fulbright Teaching Excellence Achievement Programme 2009, KVS National Incentive Award 2009,  KVS National Innovation and Experimentation Award 2010, Manorama Air India BOLT Award 2008, Sujatha Sundaram Memorial Award 2011 and Guruvandanam Award 2016,
