    International Day of Yoga Celebrated



    Under the aegis of International Day of Yoga, the following programmes were organised for sensitizing the students and the staff of the Vidyalaya spread over four days.
     On 17/6/2019, the Vidyalaya was addressed by the following luminaries of Ayush Gram Palakkad Chapter. Dr. Sunitha K S, Dr. Nithin Mohan, and Yoga Instructor Ms. Jyothisha. After address by the medical professionals the yoga instructor spoke to the students and assisted them to carry out the yogasanas in sitting, standing, supine and prone positions as per CYP.  
     On 19/6/2019, the Primary students and teachers assembled in the Multi-purpose Hall and the Vidyalaya’s Yoga instructor with the help of few students  assisted the teachers and students through Loosening exercises, followed by Tadasana, Padahastasana, Vrikshasana, Trikonasana, Pranayama, Brahmari Pranayama, Kabaala Bhathi, followed by meditataion and Shavasana. About 400 persons (students and teachers) participated in the event. 

     On 20/6/2019, the Secondary students from Classes VI to XII took part in the IYD 5 along with the teaching and non-teaching staff. The Complete Common Yoga Protocol was followed and all exercises starting from loosening exercises were performed covering sitting, standing, prone and supine positions. It was followed by Pranayama and meditation.

     On 21/6/2019, the International Yoga Day was observed in true spirit by the whole Vidyalaya. Sri. Chittur VIjayan was the Chief Guest.  Ms. G Anita PGT (Mathematics) i/c Principal welcomed the gathering. After invocation and lighting of the lamp, Sri. Chittur Vijayan addressed the Vidyalaya on the significance of the IYD and how it is significantly important for present day life. He emphasized the need to project Yoga as the panacea for all that it ailing the society. He opined what a position of pride our Country and citizens should occupy, given that Bharath is the fountain head of Yoga, Ayurveda and such like, which holds the key for all life’s ailments the world over. He highlighted how the rest of the world has taken up yoga the big way and finding peace and harmony whereas in India, the birthplace of Yoga, we are still sensitizing the society to the need to practice and propagate yoga. Ms. Sreepriya TGT (English) proposed the vote of thanks.  

     This programme was followed by competitions for the Secondary section. Classes VI-VIII had poster making competition, on the topic, “Yoga – a way to healthy life”, Classes IX-XII an essay writing competition on the topic, “Yoga for wellness”. Apart from this, Yoga Competition was conducted where participants have to perform certain yogasanas and they were judged on the precision and ease of performing the given asana. Thus, the International Yoga Day 5 was observed meaningfully and with purpose and all the stake holders of the Vidyalaya participated in all the events conducted under its aegis, with enthusiasm thus achieving the objective of observing the International Yoga Day.
