      TARUNOTSAV 2017-18

      Tarunotsav 2017-18 was conducted from 900 hrs. To 1320 hrs. every day for the students of Class X (2017-18) as per guidelines issued by KVS. 
      The programme began on 3/4/2018 with a formal inauguration function which was presided by Sri. PK Vasisht, DGM Instrumentation Limited, Chairman VMC, KV Kanjikode. One hundred and thirty children registered for the programme and on an average the attendance was about 100 students. The ongoing sports meet, sickness due to summer heat and unavoidable circumstances in the students’ families contributed to the absenteeism of the students.

      Mr. Krishna Kumar, Assistant Commissioner, KVS Ernakulum Region visited the Vidyalaya on 5/4/2018 and the students had an opportunity to listen to his words when he addressed them. He re-iterated the need to make full use of the Tarunotsav Programme and emphasized that children should make a rational choice based on their interest and aptitude than on any other reasons.

      The Guest lectures given were spaced over four modules on four days:
      Different streams available and choice of streams: Mr. Balaji
      Aptitude test : Mr. Padmanabhan
      Availability of courses in different Universities: Mr. Manoj
      Counselling for parents: Brahmakumari Meenaji

      The modules taken by teachers of the Vidyalaya are as under. The topics dealt by them were the aptitude they are supposed to possess to handle a particular subject, the kind of work ethics one had to possess and such like. The subject matter for language teachers was on literary writing skills, communication skills, creative writing, skills for drama and skit scripting and acting.

      Mathematics: Sri VIjayakumar PGT(Maths)
      Physics: Sri SIvadas PGT(Physics)
      Chemistry: Ms. Sandhya and Ms. Lakshmisree PGTs(Chemistry)
      Biology: Ms. Prabitha PGT(Biology) 
      Computer Science and Careers in Cyber Security: Mr. Arun P PGT(Comp) and Mr. Mujib Rahiman, Librarian
      Language skills English: Ms. Rugmini. Ms. Suma, Ms. Sreepriya, Ms. Rathi TGTs(English)
      Work experience: Ms. Sheeja TGT (WET)
      Music and art forms: Mr. Narayanan PRT(Music)
      NCC movement and need to be part of it: Ms. Leena M TGT (Social Science)
      Commerce subjects: *Mr. Manoj (Guest Speaker)

      On the last day 7/4/2018, the key note address was by Brahmakumari Meena Chief Coordinator Brahmakumari Palakkad and Malappuram District and the topic of the address was centered around counselling parents. It was attended exclusively by parents of Class X Students (2017-18). The Chairman of the VMC, Mr. PK Vasisht was the Guest of honor and the parents were addressed by the Chairman also.

      The Tarunotsav 2017-18 culminated with address by Mr. Mujib Rahiman, Librarian who spoke on Careers in Cyber Security and Other emerging areas and the concluding remarks was given by Mr. Arun Prasanth PGT (Computer Science) who spoke on requirements to take up computer science as one’s career.

      Every module addressed by various teachers of the Vidyalaya was on similar lines. After each module, one student gave a written feedback about the session and it was encouraging to note that the students found each session as useful as the other.

      The parents and the Students were grateful to the School administration, Staff and the guest speakers for organizing Tarunotsav on these lines.
