International Dog Day - 26 August - Library Exhibits
Every year on 26 August, dog lovers around the world come together to celebrate International Dog Day. First established in 2004 by pet lifestyle expert and author Colleen Paige, the day was created to raise awareness about the condition of animals and to encourage adoption from shelters and rescues.
The aim of this special day is simple yet powerful: to remind us all to take better care of our pets and to make more responsible choices when it comes to bringing a furry friend into our homes. Dogs give us unconditional love, joy, and companionship—it’s only fair that we return the same care and kindness to them.
