This Week's Special Exhibits
George Orwell, born Eric Arthur Blair on June 25, 1903, in India, was a British author, journalist, and critic. He's best known for 1984 and Animal Farm, which warn against totalitarianism and political manipulation. Orwell fought in the Spanish Civil War and was deeply critical of authoritarian regimes. Trivia: he chose the pen name "George Orwell" after the River Orwell in England, and coined the term "Big Brother" still used today to describe surveillance.
