GRATIAS, ALMA MATER - Library Gets a New Computer as Donation from Our Alumnus

Yet another bonanza for KV Kanjikode!! And this time, it is Shri. Kiran Ramachandran, who has once again strengthened his bond with his Alma mater by sponsoring a full-fledged computer for the KVK Library, thus fulfilling a long-cherished dream of the Vidyalaya, which had remained unfulfilled for nearly ten years. 

Kiran Ramachandran, who is a Lecturer and Course Developer, Languages Division, Police Academy, Qatar, has been a main contributor to the KVK Library for the last twelve years through sponsorship of books, awards for the toppers in English at the school level in both AISSE and AISSCE, awards for the Best Readers, motivational trophies for those who pursue English after their +2 and prizes for the winners of the various Readers’ Club activities. His passion for the English language is reflected in the institution of these awards and prizes.

The Handing-over Ceremony was organised on 10-03-2023 at 2.00 pm in the Vidyalaya Library.  The function was presided over by the Principal of the Vidyalaya, Shri. Sadanand Yadav. Shri. Kiran Ramachandran was virtually present from the beginning till the end. After the Welcome Address and the formal introduction by Shri. Mujib Rahiman, Librarian, Smt. Rugmini Menon, TGT (English) and Kiran’s Teacher of English in his VII and VIII grades at KVK, addressed the gathering, highlighting Kiran’s role in the development of the Library and the improvement in the reading skills among the children. She handed over the computer on behalf of Shri. Kiran Ramachandran, to the Principal. 

The function ended with Shri. Kiran Ramachandran addressing the gathering. He spoke about his rapport with his alma mater and also about the rationale behind the various contributions he has made till date. The meeting ended with his recitation of the poem ‘Coromandel Fishers’ by Sarojini Naidu, which he had mastered in grade  VII at KVK.
