    International Girls in ICT Day, 2015- Gaming and Programming with Alice Workshop for Girls

    Oracle Academy is organizing the International Girls in ICT Day, 2015. Global celebrations each year are steered by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) committed to Expanding Horizons and Changing Attitudes among girls.

    This initiative is aimed at

    • Encouraging girls to pursue studies and careers in ICT by providing an insight into diverse careers in the field of ICT.
    • Enabling girls to become ICT creators by developing their interest in programming and gaming in a fun way.
    • Motivating girls to think big , achieve big and take up leadership positions in life.
    • Bringing inspiration to the table by having girls interact with women in position of preeminence.
    • Making a concerted effort in enhancing the digital literacy among girls by engaging them in exciting hands-on activities.

    The Program:

    Oracle target to reach as many girls across India through hands- on program entitled “Gaming and Programming with Alice". The workshop will be real time on a virtual platform (Cisco WebEx).The virtual instructor (Oracle Academy staff) and the enthusiastic class room teacher in the computer lab, across multiple locations will work in tandem to facilitate a fun workshop on Alice. Girls will be engaged in a positive learning environment. Women leadership will interact with the Girls on the occasion. Time will be designated to answer few selected questions from Girls.

    Computer -to- student ratio- 1:2 /1:1

    Student Pre-requisite - Girls from classes 7 to12 who are familiar working on Alice 3 (will be given training prior to the session)

    *International Girls in ICT Day is celebrated on the 4th Thursday of April each year

     Interaction with women leadership.
     Careers in Computer Science.
     Workshop: Gaming and Programming with Alice.
     Concluding Remarks.
