KVS National Innovation and Experimentation Award 2019 to Mr. Mujib Rahiman, Librarian
Mr. Mujib Rahiman K.U, Librarian, Kendriya Vidyalaya Kanjikode won the KVS National Innovation and Experimentation Award 2019 for the project titled "Library Points: Rewarding the Readers". The award was presented by Mr. Santosh Kumar Mall, Commissioner, KVS on 15 December 2019 on KVS Foundation Day held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
The project was undertaken to attract the students from Class 6 and above towards library, motivate them to utilize library resources effectively, kindle interest in active participation in library and reading related activities and develop a proper library behavior.
Various innovative competitions and activities like Get Caught Reading, Book Title Challenge, Library Treasure Hunt, Online Quiz, Star Reader Challenge, Reading Competitions, DEAR and Freeze Zone were organised.
The library was earlier nominated for LibTech Award 2019 for Best Integration of Technology in Libraries through Library Website, Library Blog, Digital Repository, Platforms for Online Examination Platform and Online Homeworks, introducing a cost effective Self Circulation System through Bar code Technology, a mobile application for the library and the implementation of QRCode Technology for assessing the library usage and behaviour of students.
The project was successful in creating a reading environment in Kendriya Vidyalaya Kanjikode.
